Wait Five Minutes…

Yesterday was one of those days where the old joke about New England weather… if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes it will change… seemed to be true.

It was mostly cloudy and breezy. The temperature was in the low 60’s. Thus, while it was mostly gray, the sun would make brief appearances at random intervals. There were also brief sprinkles of rain.

Mid-afternoon, I decided to head down back to “our” beaver swamp just to see what was around. For the first thirty minutes I saw no odes justĀ  mosquitoes… I almost headed back to the house.

Then the magic happened. First one dragonfly appeared… then another… and another. There were not many individuals. I saw maybe a dozen total over the next hour or so. Many were teneral… shiny wings and weak flight. I saw no damselflies… too windy.
