{"id":5671,"date":"2022-06-28T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gorga.org\/blog\/?p=5671"},"modified":"2022-06-28T22:22:30","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T02:22:30","slug":"monhegan-island-shoreline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gorga.org\/blog\/?p=5671","title":{"rendered":"Monhegan Island &#8211; The Shoreline"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>During our week on Monhegan, we hiked most of the trails in the conserved &#8216;wild&#8217; section of the island which is owned and managed by the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/monheganassociates.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Monhegan Associates<\/a>, a private land trust. This is not difficult to do as the island is less than two miles long and less than a mile at its widest. There are a total of eleven miles of trails (<a href=\"https:\/\/monheganassociates.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2016TRAILMAP.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trail map as a pdf file<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In doing this we saw essentially all of the shoreline. All of the shore is rocky and most of it is very steep. There are several headlands where the cliffs drop directly into the water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, I made many (too many?) photographs of the shore line from many different vantage points.
