Here are mine!<\/p>\n<p>The microbial mats around the geothermal features are a source of constant fascination to this retired biochemist.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taq_polymerase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAC polymerase<\/a> which makes the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Polymerase_chain_reaction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polymerase chain reaction <\/a>(PCR) possible was isolated from\u00a0<i>Thermus aquaticus, <\/i>a bacterium that lives in hot springs.\u00a0 Possibly, this fact is the source of my interest in these mats.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Yellowstone NP<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[scrollGallery id=537 &#8211; autoscroll = false width = 600 height = 600\u00a0useCaptions = true]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We also spent a very cloudy drab afternoon in Grand Teton NP.
